About the EU Tax Observatory:

The EU Tax Observatory is an independent research laboratory directed by Gabriel Zucman and hosted at the Paris School of Economics. It conducts innovative research on taxation, contributes to a democratic and inclusive debate on the future of taxation, and fosters a dialogue between the scientific community, civil society, and policymakers in the European Union and worldwide.

The Paris School of Economics is a private non-profit research foundation. PSE develops economic research of the highest international level and brings together a community of 140 researchers and around 200 PhD students. It unites universities and grandes écoles to foster exchanges between economics and other social sciences, disseminate their work to a wide audience, and develop multiple partnerships with public institutions and private organizations.

We invite applications for a Senior Policy Advisor position:

Position: Senior Policy Advisor

Employment status: Full-time

Supervisor: Policy Director

Duration of the contract: Fixed-term 18-month contract

Location: Paris, France

Compensation: competitive, depending on profile and experience

About the position: 

The Senior Policy Advisor will join the policy team of the EU Tax Observatory. The Policy team designs and disseminates policy recommendations to different stakeholders (policymakers, governments, institutions, civil society, representatives of private interests, etc.) at national, EU and international level, based on the EU Tax Observatory research output. As part of the policy team, the Senior Policy Advisor will support the head of the department in designing and implementing the strategy. In particular:

  • Monitor the institutional and political developments in the fields related to the work of the EU Tax Observatory and brief researcher on the relevant developments;
  • Design policy recommendations stemming from the research output of the EU Tax Observatory.
  • Work with the policy team to design and implement advocacy and dissemination strategies to relevant stakeholders (policymakers, governments, institutions, civil society, representatives of private interests, etc.).
  • Represent the EU Tax Observatory in the relevant policy fora at national, regional and international level.

You will be part of an international, agile, and dynamic team, fully committed to the development and influence of the institution, and will work with people from all over PSE, notably researchers and the communication team.

The profile we are looking for:

  • At least 4+ years of experience in public affairs on taxation issues (administration, international institutions, civil society organizations, consulting).
  • Master’s degree in relevant field (political science, international relations, public affairs or economy).
  • Ability to work in the European Union.
  • You have strong political judgement and your values align with the missions of the EU Tax Observatory.
  • You are fluent in English with excellent writing and oral skills. Fluency in another language is a plus.
  • You are organized, rigorous and curious. You enjoy teamwork, and wish to invest in an ambitious project.
